2019 Greenland Melt

Hi again everyone!

OIB has prepared to begin the 2019 Greenland Melt campaign.

The OIB instruments (ATM T6 and ATM T7, CAMBOT, FLIR, HeadWall Imaging Spectrometer, and the CReSIS Snow Radar) are all installed on the NASA JSC Gulfstream V aircraft. A successful ATM/Snow Radar/Nav calibration mission was flown on Monday August 19. The Gulfstream V attempted to depart Houston TX for Thule Greenland on Wednesday Aug 21, however a maintenance issue caused the GV to return to Ellington Field, and the JSC folks are working on returning the aircraft to flight. At this time, the Gulfstream and our OIB teams will fly to Greenland no earlier than Thursday August 29.
